Note on photo above: This was taken in Endau Rompin by Gandalf (Sunny Chir).  Even though it might have been taken in jest, everytime I see it I think if there is only one defining photo that each person can have in his or her lifetime, this would probably be mine.

Wonderful post. So much to think about. You express everything so well. I know those feelings of being torn or lost. I hope your stress shingles go away SOON!I am glad daddy enjoyed his fish! 🙂

That top photo is very cool, you must love it – but I really love the fish soup one as well.

  3. Waterbaby says:

Shingles. I've been there. There's no such thing as a small case either; it's debilitating and so painful and the effects can, and do, linger the rest of one's life. The fish pic is cool.

  4. Thanks Lauri 🙂 Turns out doctor rhinks it's a really bad case of allergies… but he can't tell what is causing it… it's spread all the way down to my chest now and all the medicine and creams don't seem to be helping. My workplace still requires me to show up tomorrow warts and all.. I guess people will be running away from me screaming: "Monster!!!" 😛

  5. Thanks Cat! 🙂 Yeah I love that photo… I seldom like any photos of myself 😛

  6. Yeah… .the worst part is that on top of the joint pains, when you try to move your limbs, the skin that's all plastered up in pus also cracks with the movement… URGH… When it was at its worst I imagined that when I woke up I would find myself in a cocoon of my own dried out flesh…eeks… 😦
But doc doesn't think it's shingles this time. He jusr dismissed it as a bad case of allergies even though I told him that it's spreading downwards to my chest and that I've not done anything out of the ordinary besides getting really stressed at work.

  7. Lauri says:

Be sure to hold your arms out and lurch into work like Frankenstein. You might as well get the most out of being a "monster". :)My daughter in law had something that sounds really similar to what you are going through. She was going to the doc yesterday, I need to email her and see what she found out! Thanks for reminding me!

  8. Waterbaby says:

Shingles has a distinctive appearance (and is experienced by the body thusly as well). If a doct can't tell the difference between shingles and allergic responses, I'd consider switching!

  9. I hope your daugher in law is better. It's the 3rd day and the rashes have spread to just about my whole face… In case it might help your daughter in law to know, the hydrocortisones and combiden creams are all not working. Neither are the antihistamines. I just don't know what's happening…
When I got to work this morning, I was greeted by "Oh my GOODNESS What happened to your face?!" instead of a simple "good morning.". Heh.
Now imagine walking past several colleagues and having that same response repeated to you down a line… hahahaha

  10. I am not going back to that doctor. My family doctor was away. I don't trust any other GP as much as I trust her… unfortunately she's going to be away for 2 weeks, which I guess.. I might be buried in rashes by the time she comes back at the rate at which they are spreading….. ugh.

  11. Lauri says:

DILs doctor told her that she didn't know what the rash is, but it is NOT shingles, so that is good. Hers spread all over her chest and stomach and neck, but not her face. Her doc also thinks it's an allergic reaction to something she got into in the garden/yard. The creams and antibiotics aren't working for her, either. Ugh, I am so sorry you are both going through this, an entire globe apart! 😦

  12. Yeah… that's the worst part… none of the medication is helping… and it feels like the whole problem is out of control… sigh…
I hope your daughter in law starts getting better real soon. My rash hasn't gotten any better since Monday. The progression is so fast it's quite scary…

  13. Waterbaby says:

Ouch. Well, the thing about shingles is, if you've had them before, you'll recognize them and if it isn't that, you'll recognize that too. In the meantime, guess you're countin' the days till the real doc returns, eh?

  14. Emjay says:

Well, whatever it is, I hope it clears up soon!!

  15. I don't think I can wait that long… the rashes are getting swollen and now they're really itchy! I'm heading to the nearest specialist! (before I turn into a giant welt)

  16. Waterbaby says:

hmmm, since you don't mention debilitating pain, my hunch is that it's not shingles then; possibly an allergic reaction of some sort.

  17. Yes it seems so. I threw away all the medication and medicinal creams and used 100% aloe vera gels. It improved overnight!!!! I'm still all ugly but at least it's stopped spreading … 🙂

  18. Waterbaby says:

ah. good! and definitely not shingles.
